The support for the separately mounted top guard shall
not be in line with the riving knife.
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings, inspection
of the machine and relevant functional testing of the
machine (see also G.3).
Slot for the saw blade/milling tool in the table or in
the table slot lining
The total width of the slot L (see Figure 25) for the saw
blade shall not exceed 12 mm. For all machines table
bevel edges shall not exceed 4 mm (where L is measured
the table bevel-edges are not taken into account). On the
fixed saw flange side of the table, the distance D between
the fixed saw flange and the edge of the table slot shall
not exceed 3 mm (see Figure 25).
As an exception to the limitation of the width of the slot on
the above requirements, on circular saw benches fitted
with the facility for grooving with a milling tool the total
width of the slot L shall not exceed 25 mm. An additional
table insert for grooving shall be provided.
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings, inspection
of the machine and measurement.
L=12mm, D=2.5mm.
No bevel edge.
The machine table slot shall be lined with or made out of
chipable material, e.g. polypropylene, polyamide,
polyethylene or other plastics with similar characteristics,
light alloy, wood, plywood or brass.
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings and
inspection of the machine.
Circular saw benches with a saw blade diameter greater
than 315 mm shall have a replaceable table slot lining
(e.g. a table insert) which is held in position such that it
shall not be dislodged in the event of contact between the
