A push block handle (see Figure 28) or a wedge cutting
device (see Figure 3) and a push stick (see Figure 29)
shall be provided for use on all machines. Provision shall
be made for storing the push stick and push block handle
on the machine.
Method to cut wedges with a push block shall be given in
the instruction hand book (see Figures 3 and Figure 28
b))
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings, inspection
of the machine and relevant functional testing of the
machine.
Push sticks and push blocks shall be made from chipable
material, e.g. polypropylene, polyamide, polyethylene or
other plastics with similar characteristics, light alloy, wood,
plywood or brass.
Verification: By checking the relevant drawings and
inspection of the machine.
The minimum length for push sticks provided for use shall
be 400 mm and the mouth of the push stick shall be
manufactured in accordance with the dimensions given in
Figure 29. An example of a push stick profile is shown in
Figure 29.

On machines with riving knife mounted saw blade guard
the mountings for a protective device for grooving shall be
provided. Such mountings shall be adjustable on the
parallel fence for the protective device to cover the saw
blade/milling tool and fitted on the parallel fence at the
height corresponding to the cutting capacity of the
machine (see Figure 27) (see 6.3 ll) for the design
characteristics of such protective device.
