ROPE REPLACEMENT

Remove link from lockout cam. Lift starter from
powerhead.
To service lockout assembly, remove retaining
pin.
Remove the plunger, spring, tappet, and cam from
the housing, and the screw from the cam.
ROPE REPLACEMENT
Pull rope out completely and retain pulley in posi-
tion with stop tool from Starter Spring Installer Kit,
P/N 342682.
Remove rope from pulley channel, untie knot, and
remove rope from starter assembly.
Remove cap from handle, untie knot and remove
rope from handle.
Cut new rope 59 in. (150 cm) long. Fuse 1/2 in.
(12 mm) of both ends. Route rope through hous-
ing into pulley. Tie knot in rope end and install in
pulley channel.
Insert rope into handle, tie knot at end of rope,
install handle cap. Hold rope taut and pull stop
tool out. Allow rope to slowly wind into starter.
