Step5.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheDIMMtoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceonthe
outsideoftheserver.Then,removetheDIMMfromthepackage.
Step6.TurntheDIMMsothatthealignmentslotaligncorrectlywiththealignmenttab.
Step7.InserttheDIMMintotheconnectorbyaligningtheedgesoftheDIMMwiththeslotsattheendsof
theDIMMconnector.
Step8.FirmlypresstheDIMMstraightdownintotheconnectorbyapplyingpressureonbothendsofthe
DIMMsimultaneously.TheretainingclipssnapintothelockedpositionwhentheDIMMisfirmly
seatedintheconnector.
Note:IfthereisagapbetweentheDIMMandtheretainingclips,theDIMMhasnotbeencorrectly
inserted;opentheretainingclips,removetheDIMM,andthenreinsertit.
Step9.Reconnectanycablethatyouremoved.
Step10.Reinstalltheairbaffleifitwasremovedbefore(see“Replacingtheairbaffle”onpage160).
Step11.Reinstallthecover(see“Replacingthecover”onpage158).
Ifyouhavereplacedaservercomponentorinstalledanoptionaldeviceintheserver,youneedreinstall
thecover,slidetheserverintotherack,reconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables,andturnonthe
serverandperipheraldevices.
Removingahot-swapharddiskdrive
Usethisinformationtoremoveahot-swapharddiskdrive.
Attention:
•Toavoiddamagetotheharddiskdriveconnectors,makesurethattheservercoverisinplaceandfully
closedwheneveryouinstallorremoveaharddiskdrive.
•Tomakesurethatthereisadequatesystemcooling,donotoperatetheserverformorethan2minutes
withouteitheraharddiskdriveorafillerpanelinstalledineachbay.
