thecontactsandthesocket.

Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoslidetheserveroutfromtherack
enclosure,turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toinstallamicroprocessorandheatsink,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Carefullyturntheserveronitssidesothatitislyingflat,withthecoverfacingup.
Attention:
Whenyouhandlestatic-sensitivedevices,takeprecautionstoavoiddamagefromstatic
electricity.Fordetailsabouthandlingthesedevices,see“Handlingstatic-sensitivedevices”on
page33.
Themicroprocessorcontactsarefragile;handlethemicroprocessorverycarefully.Donottouch
themicroprocessorcontactswithyourskin.
Themicroprocessorfitsonlyonewayonthesocket.
Step2.Alignthemicroprocessorwiththesocket(notethealignmentmarkandthepositionofthenotches);
then,carefullyplacethemicroprocessoronthesocket,closethemicroprocessorbracketframe,
andclosethemicroprocessorreleaselatch.
