Step5.Installtheheatsinkonthemicroprocessor.
Attention:Donottouchthethermalmaterialonthebottomoftheheatsink.Touchingthethermal
materialwillcontaminateit.Ifthethermalmaterialonthemicroprocessororheatsinkbecomes
contaminated,contactyourservicetechnician.
a.Makesurethatthethermalmaterialisstillonthebottomoftheheatsink;then,aligntheheat
sinksothatthearrowsonthelabelpointtowardtheDIMMsandplacetheheatsinkontopof
themicroprocessor,thermalmaterialsidedown.
b.Alignthescrewsontheheatsinkwiththescrewholesonthesystemboard.
c.Tightenthescrewswithascrewdriver,alternatingamongthescrewsuntiltheyaretight.If
possible,eachscrewshouldberotatedtwofullrotationsatatime.Repeatuntilthescrewsare
tight.Donotovertightenthescrewsbyusingexcessiveforce.
Attention:Whenthetwoscrewsthatareclosertotherearoftheserveraretightened,the
screwheadsarenotlevelwiththesurfaceoftheheatsink.Donotovertightenthescrews
byusingexcessiveforce.
Step6.Reinstalltheairbaffleifitwasremovedbefore(see“Replacingtheairbaffle”onpage160).
Step7.Reinstallthecover(see“Replacingthecover”onpage158).
Whattodonext
1.Installtheserverintotherackenclosureandpushtheserverintotherackuntilitclicksintoplace.
2.Reconnectthepowercordsandanycablesthatyouremoved.
3.Turnontheperipheraldevicesandtheserver.
Thermalgrease
Thethermalgreasemustbereplacedwhenevertheheatsinkhasbeenremovedfromthetopofthe
microprocessorandisgoingtobereusedorwhendebrisisfoundinthegrease.Usethisinformationto
replacedamagedorcontaminatedthermalgreaseonthemicroprocessorandheatsink.
