1.4 Intended purpose
The Suprasorb
®
CNP P3 therapy unit is designed to drain exudate by suction during
Suprasorb
®
CNP (Controlled Negative Pressure) therapy. It is intended for patients likely
tobenefit from negative pressure wound care.
1.4.1 Indications
The Suprasorb
®
CNP P3 therapy unit can be used on both uninfected and contaminated,
colonised, critically colonised or infected wounds with light, moderate or heavy amounts of
exudate and which are superficial or deep.
Possible areas of application:
• lower leg ulcers (venous, arterial, mixed)
• decubitus
• diabetic foot lesions
• post-traumatic and post-operative wounds
• initially infected wounds following surgical debridement
• soft tissue injuries (lacerated contusions, degloving)
• injuries exposing the underlying bone or bradytrophic tissue
• wounds following splitting of acompartment on an extremity
• conditions following skin grafts (e.g., mesh graft, up to reliable integration of the graft on day 5/6)
• sternal wound infections following surgical debridement
• open abdominal procedures including treatment of fistulae (in combination with
Suprasorb
®
CNP Drainage Film only)
• treatment of 1st and 2nd degree burns
1.4.2 Contraindications
Suprasorb
®
CNP P3 is contraindicated for the following applications:
• exposed vessels likely to be compromised by negative pressure; the same applies for
vascular anastomoses
• coagulation disorders (risk of haemorrhaging)
• slight to heavy acute bleeding in the wound area following injury/surgical debridement
• necrotic tissue
• unexplored fistulas
• untreated osteomyelitis
• malignant wounds
• exposed organs without suitable organ protection
• dry wound conditions
• 3rd degree burns
• use on the sternum
(with the exception of sternal wound infections following surgical debridement)
