What causes excessive breakage of sickle sections or guards on MacDon D50 Farm Equipment?
    • E
      Edward PachecoSep 8, 2025
If you're experiencing excessive breakage of sickle sections or guards on your MacDon Farm Equipment, there are several potential causes. Adjust the sickle hold-downs. Raise the cutterbar using the skid shoes if operating too low in stony conditions. Adjust float springs for lighter float if the float is set too heavy. Straighten or replace bent or broken guards. Flatten the header angle if it is too steep.

Why is the crop not being cut at the ends with my MacDon D50 Farm Equipment?
    • P
      Patricia RivasSep 12, 2025
If the crop is not being cut at the ends by your MacDon Farm Equipment, the reel may not be ‘frowning’ or not centered in the header, so adjust the reel ‘frown’ or reel horizontal position. The sickle hold-downs may not be adjusted properly, so adjust them so the sickle works freely, but still keep sections from lifting off guards. Sickle sections or guards may be worn or broken, so replace all worn and broken cutting parts. The header may not be level, so level it. The reel fingers may not be lifting crop properly ahead of the sickle, so adjust the reel position and finger pitch. The divider may run down thick crop at ends, preventing proper feeding due to material bridging the cutter guards, so replace 3 or 4 end guards with stub guards.

Why does material accumulate inside or under the front edge of the draper on MacDon Farm Equipment?
    • S
      Sierra JacksonSep 14, 2025
If material is accumulating inside or under the front edge of the draper on your MacDon Farm Equipment, it's likely due to the deck height being improperly adjusted. Adjust the deck height to resolve this issue.
  • J
    James MitchellSep 18, 2025
Why is crop accumulating at the guards and not moving rearward onto the drapers on MacDon Farm Equipment?
    • A
      Andrew GonzalezSep 18, 2025
If crop is accumulating at the guards and not moving rearward onto the drapers on your MacDon Farm Equipment, it could be due to a few reasons. The reel finger pitch may not be aggressive enough, so increase finger aggressiveness. The reel may be too high relative to the knife, so re-adjust the reel minimum height with cylinders fully retracted. The reel may be too far forward of the cutterbar C-section, so re-position the reel.
  • P
    Philip OrtegaAug 26, 2025
What to do if MacDon D50 Farm Equipment is excessively bouncing at normal field speed?
    • A
      Alexis RichardsAug 26, 2025
Excessive bouncing at normal field speed with MacDon Farm Equipment can be caused by a float set too light. To fix this, adjust the header float.

What causes strips of uncut material with MacDon Farm Equipment?
    • B
      Brooke RoachAug 26, 2025
Strips of uncut material when using MacDon Farm Equipment can be due to crowding uncut crop or broken sickle sections. Allow enough room for the crop to be fed to the cutterbar, and replace any broken sickle sections.

    Shirley MayAug 25, 2025
How to fix MacDon Farm Equipment that does not pick up down crop?
    • J
      Joshua BakerAug 26, 2025
If your MacDon Farm Equipment is not picking up down crop, the cutterbar may be too high, the header angle too flat, or the reel may be too high or too far back. The ground speed might be too fast for the reel speed, or the reel fingers may not be lifting the crop sufficiently. Lower the cutterbar and reel, steepen the header angle, move the reel forward, reduce the ground speed or increase the reel speed, and increase the finger pitch aggressiveness. You can also install lifter guards.
