How to troubleshoot insufficient draper speed on MacDon Farm Equipment?
F
Felicia RodriguezAug 28, 2025
If there is insufficient draper speed, try the following: increase the control setting, increase the relief pressure to the recommended setting, adjust to the correct speed for the windrower model, replace the gear pump, or adjust to increase the setting.

What to do if heads are shattering or breaking off with MacDon D50?
J
john01Sep 3, 2025
If you're experiencing heads shattering or breaking off while using your MacDon Farm Equipment, there are several reasons this could be happening. The reel speed may be too fast, so reduce it. The reel might be too low, so raise it. The ground speed might be too fast, so reduce it. If the crop is too ripe, consider operating at night when humidity is higher.

Why are plant vines pinched between the top of the draper and cutterbar on MacDon D50 Farm Equipment?
H
hunteraprilSep 18, 2025
If plant vines are being pinched between the top of the draper and cutterbar on your MacDon Farm Equipment, and the cutterbar has filled up with trash even with the draper to cutterbar gap properly adjusted, raise the header fully at each end of the field, or as required, and shift decks back and forth to help clean out the cutterbar. Manually remove debris from the cutterbar cavity to prevent damage to drapers.

Why is there excessive bouncing at normal field speed with my MacDon D50?
S
Stephanie GilesSep 23, 2025
If your MacDon Farm Equipment is experiencing excessive bouncing at normal field speed, the float may be set too light. Adjust the float to correct this.

Why is reel motion uneven under no load on my MacDon D50?
T
Timothy VazquezSep 7, 2025
If the reel motion is uneven under no load on your MacDon Farm Equipment, it is likely due to excessive slack in the reel drive chain. Tighten the chain to resolve this issue.

Why is the crop not being cut at the ends with my MacDon D50 Farm Equipment?
P
Patricia RivasSep 12, 2025
If the crop is not being cut at the ends by your MacDon Farm Equipment, the reel may not be ‘frowning’ or not centered in the header, so adjust the reel ‘frown’ or reel horizontal position. The sickle hold-downs may not be adjusted properly, so adjust them so the sickle works freely, but still keep sections from lifting off guards. Sickle sections or guards may be worn or broken, so replace all worn and broken cutting parts. The header may not be level, so level it. The reel fingers may not be lifting crop properly ahead of the sickle, so adjust the reel position and finger pitch. The divider may run down thick crop at ends, preventing proper feeding due to material bridging the cutter guards, so replace 3 or 4 end guards with stub guards.

What causes cutterbar guards to break on MacDon Farm Equipment?
J
Jacob SchmittSep 18, 2025
If you're experiencing cutterbar guards breaking on your MacDon Farm Equipment, it could be due to insufficient float, so increase float. If there is an excessive amount of rocks in the field, consider installing optional stub guards.

What causes strips of uncut material with MacDon Farm Equipment?
B
Brooke RoachAug 26, 2025
Strips of uncut material when using MacDon Farm Equipment can be due to crowding uncut crop or broken sickle sections. Allow enough room for the crop to be fed to the cutterbar, and replace any broken sickle sections.

How to fix MacDon Farm Equipment that does not pick up down crop?
J
Joshua BakerAug 26, 2025
If your MacDon Farm Equipment is not picking up down crop, the cutterbar may be too high, the header angle too flat, or the reel may be too high or too far back. The ground speed might be too fast for the reel speed, or the reel fingers may not be lifting the crop sufficiently. Lower the cutterbar and reel, steepen the header angle, move the reel forward, reduce the ground speed or increase the reel speed, and increase the finger pitch aggressiveness. You can also install lifter guards.
