What causes uneven reel motion or stalling in heavy crop for MacDon Farm Equipment?
    • K
      Kristopher JacobsonSep 5, 2025
If the reel motion is uneven or stalls in heavy crop with your MacDon Farm Equipment, try the following: Reduce reel speed if it's too fast. Move to a more aggressive finger pitch notch if the reel fingers aren't aggressive enough. Raise the reel if it's too low. Increase the relief pressure to the manufacturer’s recommendations if the relief valve on the windrower has a low relief pressure setting. Fill to the proper level if there is a low oil reservoir level on the windrower. Replace the relief valve if it is malfunctioning. Replace with a high torque reel drive sprocket if you are cutting tough crops with a high-speed reel drive sprocket.

    • W
      wlambSep 3, 2025
If cut grain is falling ahead of the cutterbar on your MacDon Farm Equipment, consider these solutions. Increasing ground speed may help, as well as increasing reel speed. The reel or cutterbar may be too high, so lower them. If the reel is too far forward, move it back on the arms. If cutting at speeds over 6 mph with a high-torque reel drive sprocket, replace it with a high-speed reel drive sprocket. Finally, replace any worn or broken sickle components.
