GLOSSARY
ACQUISITION
Occurs when the unit locates a
signal and collects data from a
satellite.
ALMANAC
Data on the general location and
health of all satellites in the GPS
constellation. Can be collected
from any available satellite.
ANTENNA ALTITUDE
The sum of the altitude at your
location (zero at sea level) and the
antenna height.
ARRIVED
The message displayed when
navigating on a route in manual
mode, indicating that you have
reached the destination of the
current leg.
AUTOMATIC MODE
The mode of operation that uses
either 2D or 3D, depending on the
number of available satellites.
(Preference is given to 3D.)
AUTOMATIC ROUTE MODE
A mode of operation used when
navigating on a route. In the
automatic route mode, when you
pass the leg's destination the unit
automatically switches to the next
leg of the route.
BACKUP FIXES
The position fixes taken before the
current position and stored in the
unit's memory. Accessed by
pressing LAST FIX. Saved as
LASTFX, FIX-02, FIX-03, FIX-04,
and FIX-05.
