CROSS TRACK ERROR (XTE)

XTE (Cross Track Error), on the third line of the sample screen above,
is the length of the perpendicular between your present position and
the courseline. lt is described as being to the right or left of the
courseline, facing the destination.
lf you are 9.99 nautical
miles
or more from the
selected
route leg the NAV
5000 will not compute a
Cross Track Error-(XTE).
The
"Invalid leg" message
is
displayed.
Press the DOWN ARROW
once to see Steering.
Steering indicates which
way the vessel should be
turned to head toward the
leg
destination,
