Chapter 4 EI system diagnosis Section 1 Maintenance Precautions
4—4
•Before measuring voltage at each terminal, check to
make sure that battery voltage is 11 V or higher.
Terminal voltage check at low battery voltage will
lead to erroneous diagnosis. As in Fig.6.1.16
•Never connect an ohmmeter to the ECU with its
coupler connected. If attempted, damage to ECU or sensors
may result.
•Be sure to use a specified voltmeter / ohmmeter.
Otherwise, accurate measurements may not be obtained and
personal injury may result.
Use a multimeter
Use multimeter and negative probe correctly.
Improper use can damage motorcycles and
multimeters.
As Fig. 6.1.9.
If the voltage and current values are not known, the
maximum range may be used for measurement.
When measuring resistance, make sure no voltage is
applied.
The multimeter may be damaged if voltage is applied.
After the multimeter is used, switch the button to the
OFF position.
Note:
Before using a multimeter, read its user manual.
