36 GLOW TIMER SYSTEM
36.1 General
The glow plugs are used to help easy start of a cold
engine by preheating the combustion chamber.
In the standard-specification engines, it is necessary to
keep the starter key at the “glow” position for 20 to 30
seconds by hand in order to heat the glow plugs.
The glow timer system eliminates the necessity of
keeping the key switch at the “glow” position and
shortens the glow plug heating time (6 seconds). This
system remarkably simplifies the glow plug operation.
