Scanning 2 - 5
Scanning in Hands-Free Mode
The optional IntelliStand adds greater flexibility to the scanning operation. When the scanner is seated in the
stand’s “cup,” the scanner’s built-in sensor places the scanner in hands-free mode. When the scanner is removed
from the stand it operates in its normal hand-held mode.
Figure 2-4
Inserting the Scanner in the IntelliStand
To operate the scanner in the IntelliStand:
1. Ensure the scanner is properly connected to the host (see the appropriate host chapter for information on host
connections).
2. Insert the scanner into the IntelliStand by placing the front of the scanner into the stand’s “cup” (see Figure
2-4).
3. To scan a bar code, present the bar code and ensure the scan line crosses every bar and space of the symbol.
4. Upon successful decode, the scanner beeps and the LED turns green. For more information on beeper and
LED definitions, see Table 2-1 and Table 2-2.
