CHAPTER 2 MAINTENANCE

1. Park machine, shift to neutral and apply parking brake. “Tagout” the
machine.
2. Remove engine/transmission cover to gain access to the transmisssion
linkage.
3. Unhook the shifter cable clevis from the transmission shift lever.

4. Loosen the two 1/4-20 Gr. 5 HHCS attaching the switch to the
transmission.
5. Check that the shifter lever is rotated as far CW as it will go. This is the
which is the reverse position, and to the second detent whick is the neutral
position.
6. Insert a 1/16 diameter nail, or rivet or other pin into the switch alignment
until the pin fully engages the switch which is secured onto the shifter
shaft. Snug the two mounting bolts and remove the alignment pin. This
procedure should result in a successful check test which follows. Remove
the alignment pin.
7. With the shift lever in the neutral position, place a continuity tester across
the prongs of the neutral harness plug. It should indicate continuity, neutral
switch
