Auto tuning for BB5.0
This phone can be tuned automatically.
Autotune is designed to align the phone's RF part easier and faster. It performs calibrations, tunings and
measurements of RX and TX. The results are displayed and logged in a result file, if initiated.
Hardware set up
Hardware requirements for auto tuning:
• PC (Windows 2000/XP) with GPIB card
• Power supply
• Product specific module jig
• Cables: XRF-1 (RF cable), USB cable, GPIB cable and DAU-9S
• Signal analyser (TX), signal generator (RX) and RF-splitter
or
one device including all.

Note: Crossover Cable connection between computer and CU200 is recommended (refer to Service
Devices chapter and Module Jig concept).
Phoenix preparations
Install the phone specific data package, for example
RM-247_dp_1.78_sw_sh3.26.exe
. This defines phone
specific settings.
Auto tuning procedure
1 Make sure the phone (in the jig) is connected to the equipment. Else, some menus will not be shown in
Phoenix.
2 To go to autotune, select
Tuning (Alt-U)
>
Auto-Tune (Alt-A)
from the menu.
3 Start autotuning, clicking the
Tune
button.
WLAN autotuning
WLAN autotuning is usually performed when either the WLAN ASIC (N6300) or the front-end module (N6301)
is replaced, and the WLAN TX power level needs to be re-calibrated. In a case when the WLAN tuning values
in the phone’s memory have been erased for some reason, the tuning is also needed. The results are displayed
on the PC’s monitor, and logged in a result file if initiated.
