The display has two different operating modes:
• Normal mode, Full screen, 16.7 million colors
• Partial idle mode, 8 colors but only part of the display is active
Display is located in the UI/Slide module. The interconnection between the LCD module and the UI-FPC
implemented with a 24-pin board-to-board-connector.
The display is controlled via MeSSi-8 interface with an 8-bit bus by the application processor. All MeSSi signals
go through the EMC filtering ASIPs (Z5402 and Z5403). The display module does not require any tunings in
service.
Display and keyboard backlight
Display backlight LEDs are connected in parallel in display module. Also the driver for display backlight LEDs
is integrated to the module itself. Display LED’s brightness is controlled by application processor (D4800) via
Messi interface. Automatic dimming functionality is integrated into display module itself.
The device uses two ‘current pump’ type LED drivers (N4400 and N4401) to drive S60 keyboard LEDs, ITU
keyboard LEDs, multimedia keyboard and gaming key LEDs. All the backlight groups can be turned ON/OFF
separately.
