If the brake is applied to
the motor, or if motor is
rapidly accelerated or
decelerated, a large cur-
rent will flow through the
inverter, which results in a
fault. Therefore, the protec-
tion circuit is activated at
approximately 200% of the
inverter rated output cur-
rent, and the inverter trips.
Is there any rapid load fluctua-
tion?
• Eliminate load fluctuation.
Is there any output short-circuit?
• Check the output wiring.
Is there any ground fault?
• Check the output wiring and
the motor.

Is there any rapid deceleration?
• Increase the deceleration
time.
Is there any rapid acceleration?
• Increase the acceleration
time.
Is the motor locked?
• Check the motor and wiring.
Is the torque boost too high?
• Decrease the torque boost
setting.
• If a PM motor is in use, is the
motor set and adjusted prop-
erly?
Is the DC injection braking power
too high?
• Decrease the braking power.
This function monitors the inverter
output current and, if the built-in elec-
tronic thermal function detects a
motor overload, causes the inverter to
trip.
If the Motor Electronic Thermal Selec-
tion (b910) is set to separate the over-
load protection for the motor and for
the inverter, this function serves as
the motor overload protection.
Is the load too heavy?
• Reduce the load rate.
Is the thermal level setting
(b012/b212) correct?
• Adjust the thermal level to an
appropriate level.
Is the acceleration torque suffi-
cient?
• Increase the acceleration
time.

Braking resis-
tor overload
protection
The inverter trips if the usage rate of
the regenerative braking circuit
exceeds the value set in b090.
