13.2.4 Input Method of Feedback Counter
Select from the following three types according to input devices to be connected.
The count operation varies depending on the settings of multiplication factor as shown below.
Count method
Method Connection Count
2-phase
(Phase
differenc
e)
For the 2-phase input, the input A
signal and input B signal of each
counter are connected to the phase A
and phase B of an encoder.
The count direction depends on the
phase difference between phases A
and B. When the phase A is
proceeding by 90 degrees in
electrical angle than the phase B, the
count value is incremented. When the
phase A is delayed by 90 degrees in
electrical angle than the phase B, the
count value is decremented.
Individual
In the individual input method, the
counter is incremented when the
input A signal rises or falls, and
decremented when the input B signal
rises or falls.
Direction
discrimin
ation
For the direction detection input, the
count signal is connected to the input
A signal. The count direction is
controlled by the level of the direction
signal of input B signal.
When the input B signal is on, the
counter is incremented when the
input A signal rises or falls. When the
input B signal is ON, the counter is
decremented.
