3.3.2 Connecting the function earth
A connected function earth discharges electrical charges from the metal enclosure.
The function earth also improves the discharge of interference generated by external power
cables, signal cables or cables for I/O modules to ground.
The connection for the function earth is labeled with the following symbol:
You can find information on the position of the functional earthing connection under "Rear of
the device (Page 12)".
Requirement
• PH2 screwdriver
• Cable lug for M4
• Function earth with minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm

Procedure
1. Clamp the cable lug on the function earth.
2. Firmly attach the cable lug to the function earth connection on the
device using the M4 thread (see part labeled).
3. Connect the function earth to the protective conductor connection
of the cabinet or the plant in which the device is installed.
