Example 1: Automatic Milling Operation with

Via the encoder, flange attached to the shaft, the
1P
241 receives the “actual position” of the car-
riage and thus accordingly the work piece position.
The end positions of the milling head (respective work piece dimensions) are specified as
set-
points.
Via a cam, positioned immediately in front of the work piece edge, a coolant pump can be
activated.
When the end position is reached, a quick and precise cutoff of the spindle motor can be effected
via an interrupt to the programmable controller.
For simplification, example 1 is limited to one axis.
