12 Load Control
SMA Solar Technology AG
Operating manual 77HM-20-BE-en-19
Operating mode Explanation
Switch off No control of the switching device by the SunnyHomeManager
The switching device is switched off and switches to the operating mode Off. The con-
nected load cannot draw electric current.
Automatic Control of the switching device by the SunnyHomeManager
The switching device switches to the operating mode Automatic.
The SunnyHomeManager now considers the PV generation forecast for the PV system
and the consumption behavior in the household and determines when the switching de-
vice, and thus the connected home appliance, is switched on within the configured time
period.
This operating mode cannot be set for the load type Measure only
Procedure:
1. In the page and menu selection, select SunnyHomeManagerSystem > Load Balance and Control.
2. Select either the Current tab or the Control tab.
3. In the table, in the column Operating mode, select the button for the required operating mode next to the
required load.
You can also set the operating mode of the switching devices via the app.
12.3.6 Enabling Start-up Detection for Radio-Controlled Sockets
Start-up detection can only be activated for a load that is connected via a radio-controlled socket. Start-up detection is
only possible if the power consumption of the load exceeds a specific minimum threshold (measurement tolerance).
The start-up detection is linked to the settings of the operating mode.
By enabling start-up detection, you enable the SunnyHomeManager to independently switch to the Automatic
operating mode and to run the program of a load at the most favorable time possible within the configured time
period.
Via the radio-controlled socket assigned to the load, the SunnyHomeManager uses the power consumption to detect
when the connected load starts a program and switches the load off again directly via the radio-controlled socket in
order to switch it on again later and automatically via the radio-controlled socket.
SunnyHomeManager blocks start-up detection for the duration of the load's maximum program operating time
(blocking period) so that the program can run without a new interruption even when there are fluctuations in the power
consumption of the load (e.g. 2nd start-up of a washing machine during the spin cycle). The information (that the start-
up detection is temporarily disabled) is displayed in the Load balance and control menu under the Current tab. You
specify the maximum program runtime when configuring the load (see Section12.4.5, page81).
Requirements:
☐ The load must be connected to the energy management system via a radio-controlled socket compatible with the
SunnyHomeManager.
☐ The load must be a dishwasher, washing machine or self-configured (see Section12.4.2, page80).
☐ The load must be program-controlled (see Section12.4.3, page80).
☐ In order to enable start-up detection, the radio-controlled socket must be in the operating mode Switched on as
an assigned device (see Section12.3.5, page76).
Procedure:
1. Select Configuration > Load Overview and Planning in the page and menu selection.
2. In the line of the desired load, in the column Configuration, select the symbol .
3. Select [Edit].
