3.1 START-UP CYCLE
During Start-Up cycle:
• all ball valves are closed;
• Thornton controller is initialized;
• alkaline tank monitor is started [if option applies,
see S
ECTION 3.14, ALKALINE WASH TANK MONITOR (IF
OPTION APPLIES)];
• acid tank monitor is started [if option applies, see
S
ECTION 3.15, ACID WASH TANK MONITOR)].
3.2 TYPICAL CYCLE TREATMENTS
When washer starts processing a cage or rack, control
energizes exhaust fan (6 out 7) during whole cycle.
Exhaust fan is de-energized at end of cycle or when
cycle is aborted.
3.2.1 Pre-Wash
Sump is filled with hot tap water. Water is recircu-
lated. Then, water is drained.
3.2.2 Alkaline Wash
If alkaline side tank is present, sump is filled using
alkaline side tank.

Sump is filled with hot tap water.
Water is recirculated.
If alkaline side tank is present and water save is
activated, water is returned to alkaline side tank.

Water is drained.
3.2.3 Acid Wash
If acid side tank is present, sump is filled using
acid side tank.

Sump is filled with hot tap water.
Water is recirculated and heated. A soaking phase
is performed.
If acid tank is present and water save is activated,
water is returned to acid side tank.

Water is drained.
3.2.4 Rinse 1
Sump is filled with hot tap water. Water is recircu-
lated; then, water is drained.
3.2.5 Rinse 2
Sump is filled with hot tap water. Water is recircu-
lated; then, water is drained.
3.2.6 Final Rinse
• Recirculated Final Rinse
Sump is filled with hot tap water. Water is recircu-
lated; then, water is drained.
• Non-Recirculated Final Rinse Treatment
Water is sprayed over load (non-recirculated). Then
water is drained.
3.2.7 Exhaust
An exhaust phase is performed.
3.3 PHASE PROCESSING
3.3.1 Sump Filling
• Automatic Rack Flush:
If automatic rack flush system option is available and
performing final rinse, control energizes automatic
water rack flush valve (6 out 0) during filling phase for
recirculated final rinse or during nor-recirculation for
the non-recirculated final rinse.
• Filling Valve Opening:
If sump is filled directly, control energizes sump hot
water fill valve (4 out 1) and energizes heat exchanger
steam valve (4 out 14) – if option applies and treatment
temperature is over 165ºF.
If sump is filled using alkaline side tank, control opens
alkaline tank dump ball valve (4 out 9).
