MOTOR CONTROL BOARD REPLACEMENT
Tools Required:
No. 2 Phillips Screwdriver•
Needle Nose Pliers •
Diagonal Pliers •
3/8” Combination Wrench •
Procedure:
Note
Unless otherwise indicated, refer to Figure 4.3 C on pg. 43 for the following replacement procedure.
Completely raise the bed and apply the brakes. 1.
Unplug the bed power cord from the wall outlet. 2.
Remove the foot board. 3.
Using the No. 2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the 10 screws (A, Figure 4.2 A, 4. pg. 32) holding the cover and the I.V.
pole holders to the foot casing.
Lift up and remove the cover, taking care to first disconnect the control panel cable (B, Figure 4.2 A, 5. pg. 32) and, if
applicable, the foot casing connector cable ((optional), C, Figure 4.2 A, pg. 32) from the control board.
Properly ground yourself (see 6. pg. 19).
Using diagonal pliers, cut the cable ties holding together the cables.7.
Note
Carefully note the position and the grouping together of the cables before clipping the cable ties.
Remove all cables connected to the control board. Note their location so they will be connected properly to the 8.
replacement board. Refer to the connection diagram in the “Electrical Service Information” section for the connecting
position of the cables on the motor control board.
Using the 3/8” combination wrench, remove the nut (N) holding the ground cable to the frame and remove the 9.
cable.
Using needle nose pliers, pinch the upper part of the stand-off pins (O) and gradually lift the board up and out.10.
Note
Verify that the DIP switches of the replacement control board are set as the ones of the defective board. They should
be as follows:
DIP switches
no. 1: off;
no. 2: off;
no. 3: on;
no. 4: on.
Using the 3/8” combination wrench and No. 2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the nut and screw (P) holding the ground 11.
cable to the board.
Keep the jumper (W1) that is located on the electronic board before replacing the board.12.
Reverse the above steps to install the replacement control board. 13.
Test all the bed electric functions before returning the bed to service.14.
