Rubber Mallet •
3/8” Drive Ratchet•
Procedure:
Note
Unless otherwise indicated, refer to Figure 4.4 A on pg. 58 for the following replacement procedure.
Completely raise the bed. 1.
Unplug the bed power cord from the wall outlet. 2.
Position the brake/steer pedal to neutral. 3.
Using the 1/2” combination wrench, remove the two nuts, washers, shoulder spacers and bolts (E1, Figure 4.4 B, 4.
pg. 62) linking the end of the brake rod to the locking levers, on the side of the pedals. If the optional four-wheel
brake system is present on the bed, also remove the fasteners linking the end of the two other brake rods to the
same locking levers.
Using the 1/2” socket, remove the four bolts (A) holding both fifth wheel supports to the base. Keep the molded 5.
spacers (B). Remove the assembly.
Remove the two brake/steer pedals from the activation lever shafts. Use a rubber mallet if necessary. 6.
Remove and keep the two locking levers (G, Figure 4.4 B, 7. pg. 62).
Reverse the above steps to install the replacement fifth wheel assembly. 8.
Test the fifth wheel for proper operation before returning the bed to service.9.
