FIFTH WHEEL SWING ARM ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (OPTIONAL)
Tools Required:
3/8” Drive Ratchet•
1/2” Socket •
Two 1/2” Combination Wrenches•
3/16” Allen Wrench•
Procedure:
Note
Unless otherwise indicated, refer to Figure 4.4 A on pg. 58 for the following replacement procedure.
Completely raise the bed. 1.
Unplug the bed power cord from the wall outlet. 2.
Position the brake/steer pedal to neutral. 3.
Using the 1/2” socket, remove the two bolts (A) holding the left or right fifth wheel support to the base. Lay the 4.
support down and keep the molded spacer (B).
Using two 1/2” combination wrenches, remove the nut, shoulder spacer and bolt (D) holding the torsion lever (E) to 5.
the lower part of the counter lever.
Using the 1/2” combination wrench and 3/16” Allen wrench, remove the two nuts and Allen screws (F) holding the 6.
torsion levers (E) to both ends of the torque shaft (G).
Note
At reassembly, screw down the Allen screws before installing the nuts.
Disengage the swing arm assembly from the torsion levers and remove it. 7.
Using two 1/2” combination wrenches, remove the nut and bolt (C) holding the caster to the swing arm and keep it 8.
for the replacement swing arm assembly.
Reverse the above steps to install the replacement swing arm assembly. 9.
Test the fifth wheel for proper operation before returning the bed to service.10.
