Operator Manual, Revision T-1 39
6.1. Oxy fuel cutting (prior to operation)
1. Check the torch, valves, flashback arrestors and fittings for tightness, unrestricted access and
condition.
2. Check that the gas inlet pressure does not exceed the system maximum.
3. Check that the power supply input voltage is correct and complies with regulatory
requirements.
In operation
1. Whenever possible, keep the material to be cut parallel to the longitudinal rail.
2. Select the correct size nozzle to suit the material being cut, check the torch alignment for
squareness to the material being cut.
3. Input the parameters for material thickness, set the preheat and cutting time, set the oxygen
cut flow pressure and cut speeds in accordance with the relevant cut charts.
4. Prior to torch ignition, the work area should be vacated by non-essential personnel.
Operators should use the most appropriate piercing method to reduce flying sparks and
damage to the torch/nozzle and system.
5. Ensure the flame is Neutral, test the oxygen cutting jet, if the nozzle is fouled up or damaged,
either clean the nozzle using the cleaning kit provided or fit a new nozzle.
6. If during the cutting process a flashback occurs, press the E-Stop button then immediately
turn off the fuel gas at the torch, then close off the heating and cutting oxygen supply. Wear
gloves when turning off the gas supply at the torch, it may be extremely hot. Close off ALL gas
supply at cylinders or manifolds. Do not operate the system until a suitably qualified person
has checked the system and found the reason for the flashback.
7. Whilst operating the system, the operator should remain vigilant and be aware any unusual
changes to the operating system and the work area, upon discovery of a fire, gas leak or
other danger, the operator should press the E-Stop button, and turn of the gas at the torch if
safe to do so, or isolate the gas supply at the cylinder/manifold.
8. The operator should be aware that after cutting a profile, the torch should be raised to
prevent a collision when moving to the next start point.
9. When using an overhead crane or other lifting device to move the cut profiles or scrap
material, ensure that the EX-TRACK
®
will not be damaged.
End of shift / day
1. Ensure that the torch is in the home position, close all gas valves and isolate the system from
its electrical supply.
2. Clean down the main unit, rails and rack, use lubricants as required, do not use excessive
amounts of lubricant as this will attract contaminants.
3. Leave the work area clean and tidy, with tools correctly stored.
