2. Connect the
DAT-Link
+ and congure the computer as describ ed in previous
sections.
3. If the
DAT-Link
+was already on, turn its power o and on again.
4. Connect the
DAT-Link
+ to an audio DAT player.
5. Insert the distribution tap e in the DAT machine and make sure it is rewound
to the b eginning.
6. Type:
dd if=/dev/datlink0 bs=64512 of=/tmp/dldist count=50
7. Press
play
on the DAT machine within a few seconds of executing the
dd
command.
Within about 25 seconds of pressing play, the
dd
command should exit with the
message:
50+0 records in
50+0 records out
If you do not see the above message, or see an error message during the loading
process, stop the tap e and rep eat the ab ove steps. If the error p ersists refer to
Section A.3 in the Appendices to troublesho ot the problem.
Once the
dd
command has completed, you can stop the tap e and b egin the instal-
lation procedure by executing the command:
/bin/sh /tmp/dldist
You should then see the message:
DAT-Link Source Installation
----------------------------
which will be followed after a few seconds by:
Finished extracting sources.
Setting up sources...
The source les will b e extracted into you current directory and you will then be
prompted for various conguration options as described in the section 2.6.2 b elow.
