passive CDU CDU in hot standy mode. In duplicated systems, the CDU that is
monitoring the active CDU in a normal situation.
primary sensor The sensor that provides the system with the weather data in normal
conditions.
processed data Weather data that is measured by sensors and processed before it is
shown in AviMet applications, in contrast to raw sensor data.
raw sensor data Weather data measured by sensors and shown in the AviMet system
without significant modifications, in contrast to processed data.
RCM workstation Maintenance workstation in the AviMet systems; contains the system
maintenance applications.
ROA Remote Object Architecture. System architecture used in AviMet data
handling procedures.
ROA object A component of the ROA architecture. A runtime container for data
coming from the sensors. Created by a ROA process. Can be used by
the system to create new objects or displayed in end-user applications.
ROA process A component of the ROA architecture. A system service that creates
and manages ROA objects.
service mode See command mode.
single-CDU system An AviMet system with one CDU, with or without workstations. See
also duplicated system.
site The location at which weather data is measured. In other words, the
location of a sensor in the field, or the location of a data collector with
several sensors connected to it.
sound alarms An optional feature in several AviMet applications.
stored data Data that the system stores in ASCII Log View, in contrast to current
data.
support LLWAS
processing status
A data status displayed in the LLWAS screen in the Weather View
application. The status indicates that the number of inactive sensors
exceeds the preconfigured limit and windshear and microburst alerts
cannot be provided. See also normal LLWAS processing status and
degraded LLWAS processing status.
system
configuration
The way AviMet systems are customized during system delivery.
system delivery The installation and configuration of the AviMet systems by Vaisala.
During the delivery, the system is customized to meet the local
requirements.
