IMPORTANT
• After you replace an item below, you have to select a
cylinder head gasket.
–Piston
– Piston pin
– Small end bushing
– Connecting rod
– Crankpin bearings
To select the cylinder head gasket
1. Measure the protrusion or recess of the piston head from the
level of crankcase cylinder face at 4 points per each piston with
a dial gauge.
2. Get the average of the measurements.
3. Use the table below to select an applicable cylinder head
gasket.

Tappets
1. Remove the tappets (1) from the crankcase.
(When reassembling)
• Before you install the tappets, apply a thin layer of engine oil
around them.
• Check the contact between tappets and cams that it turns
correctly. If it is damaged, replace the tappets.
IMPORTANT
• Do not change the combination of tappet and tappet guide.
