Troubleshooting
Checking the Device Network Connection using the Echo Test 
Option within the Tools Menu
You can use the Tools menu to adjust the brightness of the Control Panel display, change the billing 
impression mode, or enable an optional feature on your device. 
Note: This option must be made available by your System Administrator.
Use the Echo Test option to check the device is connected to your network. This feature is only likely 
to be needed by your System Administrator or Xerox support team.
Refer to the System Administrator Guide for further information.
1. Press the Machine Status button on the Control Panel.
2. Select the Tools  tab on the touch screen.
3. Select the Troubleshooting button.
4. Select the Network button.
5. Select the Echo Test button.
6.  Select the option required.
• TCP / IP tests the TCP / IP network connection. 
• AppleTalk tests the AppleTalk network connection. 
• Novell or IPX tests the Novell / IPX network connection.
Note: If AppleTalk is grayed out, the AppleTalk protocol must be enabled. If Novell or IPX is 
grayed out, the NetWare protocol must be enabled.
7. Select the Start Test button.
8.  The screen displays a message to show the result of the Echo Test.
9. Select the Close button.
