Draining, oil
The procedure below details how to drain oil from the gearbox, axis 3.
When using the oil exchange equipment, follow the instructions enclosed with the kit. Art.
no. for the kit is specified in Required equipment on page 132.
Filling, oil
The procedure below details how to fill oil to the gearbox, axis 3.
When using the oil exchange equipment, follow the instructions enclosed with the kit. Art.
no. for the kit is specified in Required equipment on page 132.
Action Note
1. Move the upper arm of the robot to the
position where the wrist is pointing towards
the floor.
This is done in order to drain all oil from
the gearbox axis 3.

DANGER!
Turn off all electric power, hydraulic and
pneumatic pressure supplies to the robot!

WARNING!
Handling gearbox oil involves several safety
risks. Before proceeding, please observe the
safety information in section WARNING -
Safety risks during work with gearbox oil on
page 36.
4. Remove the oil plug, draining, and drain the
gearbox oil using a hose with nipple and an
oil collecting vessel.
Remove the oil plug, filling in order to drain
the oil quicker!
Shown in the figure Location of gearbox
on page 132.
Vessel capacity is specified in Required
equipment on page 132.
NOTE!
Draining is time-consuming. Elapsed
time varies depending on the
temperature of the oil.
5. Refit the oil plug. Tightening torque: 24 Nm.
