Integrated barcode scanner
The integrated barcode scanner reads the sample identification labels on
the primary sample tubes. The scanner is capable of reading the
following barcodes:
• Code 39
• Codabar
• Code 128
• ITF-14
Barcode labels affixed to the primary sample tubes must meet the follow-
ing criteria:
• Bars and text printed in black ink on opaque white label stock having
a matte or flat finish.
• Codes must conform to the minimum and maximum character limits
of the barcode format specifications, as specified in Table 3.
NOTE The maximum number of characters that can be used or read
may be limited by the physical dimensions contained in the
CLSI documents listed below, or by the print quality of the bar-
code label.
• Label applied with bars oriented perpendicular to the length of the
tube. Off-axis misalignment should not exceed 10 degrees.
Refer to CLSI documents AUTO7-A and AUTO12-P for additional
guidelines on generation and attachment of barcode labels.
