Table 3.2 Predefined Mapping Files
This section shows how the predefined mapping files specify dispensing from microtiter
plates to SpectroCHIP Arrays. It provides mapping diagrams for a standard SCOUT plate.
Each mapping file requires a particular pin array format. The standard format is 24-pin. An
adapter kit is available for adapting a 24-pin instrument to a 6-pin format. See Appendix
A, page 117 for more details on changing the instrument pin array format.
When using a predefined mapping file, you do not have to run the maximum number of
microtiter plates or SpectroCHIP Arrays allowed. The number of SpectroCHIP Arrays to
be run is set in the SpectroCHIP Array position diagram in the Method screen (Figure 3.1).
The number of SpectroCHIP Arrays determines the number of plates in the run because
each SpectroCHIP Array is mapped to a plate or portion of a plate.

SpectroCHIP Array

Use this mapping file to dispense from 384-well microtiter plates to 384 SpectroCHIP
Arrays. This mapping file requires the standard 24-pin format. A maximum of two plates
and two SpectroCHIP Arrays can be run using this mapping file. Each plate is dispensed
to one of the SpectroCHIP Arrays.
