Replacing the Piercing Nozzle/Cleaning the Nozzle Washing Block
Cleaning the nozzle washing block and replacing the O-ring
Replace the O-ring of the nozzle washing block every 3000 measurements. Hemolysis washing solution may leak from
the nozzle washing block if the O-ring degrades. The piercing nozzle may not be adequately washed as a result. Always
clean the bottom of the nozzle washing block when replacing the O-ring.
Replacing the piercing nozzle
Replace the piercing nozzle every 60000 measurements. A clogged or damaged nozzle also requires replacement. Also
replace the O-ring of the nozzle washing block when replacing the piercing nozzle.
Prepare: O-ring (for nozzle washing block), piercing nozzle (when replacing)
, Phillips screwdriver, tweezers AA,
purified water, cotton swabs, gauze, tissue paper,
protective tube (for piercing nozzle maintenance) and
protective gloves
1 Move the piercing nozzle.
a On the standby screen, select , <7 Maintenance menu> and <2 Piercing nozzle maintenance> in that order.
b Press or .
• Liquid will be drained from the piercing nozzle and the piercing nozzle will move to the front.
c Wait for the screen shown on the right to appear.
Wear protective gloves to prevent exposure to pathogenic microbes.
Discard used piercing nozzle, O-ring, cleaning tools and protective gloves in accordance
with local regulations for biohazardous waste.
Piercing nozzle maintenance

Close front cover after cleaning
even if not using instrument.
System will initialize.
