13. Installing & Wiring DC Input Boards
(Refer to Figures 13.0, 13.1, and 13.2) Note that DC Input Boards require an
external, regulated DC supply capable of providing a voltage of plus (+) 12 Vdc to
plus (+) 24 Vdc. The current rating of the supply will depend on the number of loads
being driven (and if the same supply is being used for DC Outputs). Each DC Input
draws 10 mA of current at 24 Vdc. 18 gauge wire is recommended as a minimum,
but make certain to satisfy all local and national code requirements.
For Standard 24 Input (A-60070) Boards:
1.Connect -DC to Pin 1 of Connector P14. This connection provides a common for
all 24 of the opto-isolator input circuits (1 connection is required for all 24 inputs).
2.Connect each of the machine inputs to the board. There is a separate connection
for each of the 24 inputs (P14, Pins 2 - 9; and P15, Pins 1 - 16).
For High Density 48 Input Boards:
1.Connect -DC to Pin 1 of Connector P14 on each of the two boards. This
connection provides a common for all 24 of the opto-isolator input circuits of that
board (only two such connections are required for all 48 inputs).
2.Connect each of the machine inputs to the boards. There is a separate
connection for each of the 48 inputs (P14, Pins 2 - 9 on each of the two boards;
and P15, Pins 1 - 16 on each of the two boards).
DC Inputs Operating Specifications
Supply Voltage: Input Current:
12 to 24 Vdc external 10mA @ 24 Vdc
On Voltage: Indicator:
≥10 Vdc LED per Input
Off Voltage: Isolation:
≤ 3 Vdc Optically isolated as a group
For supply connections, use No. 18 AWG or
larger wires rated for at least 75°C (165°F).
If both Class 1 and Class 2 Input/Output Boards are present, it may be necessary to bundle wires and
route straight down through the wiring trough in order to meet minimum spacing requirements.

No
Note: When counting boards in multi-rack
systems (for switch settings, RLD/screen pro-
gramming) count each control rack separately.
Class 2 Wiring must be separated a minimum of
1/4 inch from any Class 1 conductors.
