Handling of defective/damaged batteries
X Do not attempt any repairs
X Never open the battery
X Do not use in case of any damage to the housing
(danger of a short circuit)
Classification of damaged batteries
well-functioning battery
Capability problems, superficial scratches, broken handle,
LEDs 2 and 4 flashing
X Battery can usually be switched on and, if required,
diagnosed
X Battery transportable, observe the regulations on
pg. 144
Battery damage noncritical
Not able to be turned on, BMS damage, considerable
damage to the housing, suspected water damage
X Battery can be transported after 3 weeks of quaran-
tine
X Contact Bosch eBike Service
X Ship in special packaging (A):
– Hermetically seal interior and exterior packaging
with ventilation device
– Inner packaging enclosed with non-combustible
and non-conductive thermal insulation
– The effect of impacts and vibrations must be kept
low
– If required, provide sufficient inert, absorbent
material
X The sender is also responsible for evaluating
whether a dangerous reaction during transport is to
be assumed or not!
Critical battery
Smoke, heating, thermal deformation, degassing, battery
cells are open
X Battery is not transportable
X Never transport it yourself or hand it over to a par-
cel service/freight forwarder
X Establish contact with the Bosch eBike service
X Keep in a safe place
Critical batteries in safety box (B, see dealer
portal

www.bosch-ebike.net) package. Alterna-
tively, place in a fireproof, sand-filled metal box
in a dry location outdoors, but protected by a
roof and covered with sand.
If the battery burns or emits smoke:
X Do not inhale the smoke
X If this is not possible, bring it outdoors
X Extinguish with large quantities of water or
immerse, if possible. (Beware of scalding
danger!)
X Contact the fire brigade
