5.10 Transportation of dangerous
goods transport in accordance
with ADR
X Misuse, damage and technical defects of lithium-ion
batteries may result in an uncontrolled release of
stored energy.
X Emitted vapours are toxic and corrosive.
X Therefore all lithium-ion batteries must be tested
according to UN model regulations:

ADR is revised every 2 years, therefore regularly
repeat the instruction in dangerous materials

X The regulations controlling the transport of dan-
gerous goods by road (ADR) apply for the commer-
cial transport of lithium ion batteries in excess of
100 Wh.
Once the battery is inserted in the eBike, the
bike becomes a "Battery-powered vehicle or
Battery-powered equipment" (UN number 3171).
X If the goods are not dangerous, ADR regula-
tions may be disregarded
