Print Quality
Problem Cause Corrective Action
Printer will not feed labels. The leading edge of the label
supply is either not straight or not
inserted up to the black line under
the ribs.
Remove the label supply and
use a pair of scissors to cut a
straight leading edge, if
necessary. When reinserting
leading edge make sure it is
securely under the ribs (at least
up to the black line). See
“Loading Labels” on page 15.
First label is blank when printing. Locking lever was not engaged
before feeding labels.

Problem Cause Corrective Action
Poor quality printing
Battery pack may be worn out and
not properly holding a charge.
Battery life is approximately one
to three years, depending on its
use and care. Order a
replacement battery pack.
Dust or adhesives accumulated
on the printhead.
Clean the printhead. (See
“Cleaning Internal Components”
on page 74.)
No print on the label The label or ribbon is not loaded
correctly.
Reinstall the labels and ribbon.
“Loading Supplies” on page 14.
Void areas or lines appear on
printed text
Ribbon wrinkling. With the ribbon installed, tension
the ribbon by rotating the rewind
spool (top spool) in a downward
direction until all slack is
removed. See “Ribbon” on
page 14. If the problem persists,
install a new ribbon.
Faint print on labels Ribbon not advancing properly. Remove the ribbon and rotate
the take-up spool end clockwise.

If the problem persists, install a
new ribbon.
