“Print settings not optimized” The printer does not have the
necessary information about label
parameters because the label is
not included in the Printer Label
Library.
Update the Label Library. See
“Updating Printer Label Library
Values” on page 73.
“Ribbon not recommended for
installed labels”
The installed ribbon is not
recommended for use with the
installed label supply.
Replace the ribbon with one that is
compatible with the installed label
supply, as indicated in the error
message on the printer. Check
your local Brady website for ribbon
and label supply compatibility.
“Ribbon or cartridge is
unlocked”
Switch locking lever to LOCKED
position.
Confirm that the locking lever is
fully engaged.
“Remove labels and ribbon” The printer needs to be cleaned. Follow the instructions shown on
the printer.
“Set locking lever to LOCKED” Lock printer during cleaning. Set locking lever to LOCKED.
Problem Cause Corrective Action
Keyboard works intermittently or
not at all.
One or more keys is stuck in
depressed state.
Identify any keys stuck in down
position. Repress key to unstick.
Cutter does not cut.
Possible adhesive buildup. Replace the Cutter.
Label material is stuck in the
cutter blades.
Disengage the printhead lock
lever. Remove the ribbon.
Remove the label supply. Clear
the path of the debris.
Printer not connecting to mobile
device or does not appear in the
Express Labels app.
Bluetooth is not enabled on the
printer or another device is
already connected.
Confirm on the printer that
Bluetooth is turned on. To
disconnect a device, hold the
power button on the printer for
five seconds then connect your
device.
