Basic Use
No Printhead
Cause1 The printhead is not installed.
Solution 1: Install the printhead. (→ P. 4 -2 2)
Printhead Error!
Cause1 The printhead has malfunctioned.
Solution 1: Turn OFF the printer, wait for 3 seconds min.,
and then turn ON the printer again.
Solution 2: If the message appears again after doing the
procedure above, read the content of the
message and write down the first line, turn OFF
the printer, and then contact a Canon service
center.
Check Printhead
Cause1 The printhead installed cannot be used with this
printer.
Solution 1: Install the printhead for this printer.

Cause 2: Printhead abnormal.
Solution 1: Open the top cover. If the carriage is out,
replace the printhead. (→ P. 4- 2 1 )
Solution 2: If the carriage is not installed, close the top
cover, press the Online button, select Replace
P.head, and then replace the printhead.
(→ P.4-21)
Cause 3: If you see this message when the print job
starts, the condition of the printhead is poor and
cannot eject ink properly.
Solution 1: Press the Stop/Eject button to stop the print job,
perform Head Cleaning B, then start the print
job again. (→ P. 4- 3 9)
If this does not solve the problem, replace the
printhead. (→ P.4-22)
Solution 2: Although you can perform the print job if you
press the Online button, the print quality may
become poor.
Cause 4: Ink is not filled in the printhead properly.
Solution 1: Remove all ink tanks and reinsert them
properly. (→ P. 4- 2)
