Step Action
1 Connect the test equipment and the 6200 near and far 6200 network
elements as shown in the Figure 7-2 on page 7-12.
2 Select the type of protection required.
Note: Tributary protection group should be created earlier.
Daisy-chaining the E1/DS1 ports at the near end
3 Connect the Rx of the E1/DS1 port 1 of I/O panel to the Tx of the E1/DS1 test
set and Tx of the 63

E1/DS1 port of the I/O panel to the Rx of the E1/DS1
test set as shown in Figure 7-2 on page 7-12.
4 Connect the other consecutive ports in tandem, that is connecting the Tx of
one port to the Rx of the following port of the I/O panel of the same interface.
If Then
1+1 MSP/APS/ is required Provision 1+1 MSP/APS/ group on
the optical port, both at the near and
far end network elements.
Provision the cross-connects
between the E1/DS1 ports and the
working optical port.
SNCP/UPSR/ protection is required Provision the cross-connects
between the E1/DS1 ports and the
optical ports in SNCP/UPSR/ mode.
