Procedure 8-1 (continued)
Adding an 6200 network element to a STM-1/OC-3 ring configuration with 15G MRO XC circuit
pack
Step Action
3 Add pass-through connections on node E on port 1-4-3 and 1-2-3, matching
the connections between port 1-2-3 on node D and port 1-4-3 on node B
respectively.
4 Enable the ECC bytes in network element E similar to the ECC bytes used in
the node D-1-2-3 or B-1-4-3.
Note: A-B-D is the working path and A-C-D is the protection path.
5 If the traffic on the nodes B and D are protected then transfer the traffic
manually to protection path.
Refer to Provisioning and Protection Switching Procedures, 009-6200-310.
6 Set Admin status to DOWN on ports 1-2-3 and 1-4-3 of network element D
and B respectively.
Note: Traffic on all the unprotected circuits provisioned on either D-1-2-3 or
B-1-4-3 will be lost while adding network element E.
7 Connect the Tx fiber between network element D, E and B as shown in Figure
8-2 on page 8-10. Set Admin status to UP on ports 1-2-3 and 1-4-3 of network
element D and B respectively in service. Set Admin status to UP on ports
1-2-3 and 1-4-3 of network element E.
Refer to Provisioning and Protection Switching Procedures, 009-6200-310 for
provisioning details.
8 Measure the Rx power at Node B, D, and E and verify that the level are within
specification for the type of SFP being used. Connect the Rx Fiber to the
interface. Refer to the Planning Guide, S78-1002-110 for the laser
specifications.
9 Verify that there are no alarms related to any of the ports 1-2-3, 1-4-3 on E,
1-2-3 on D, and 1-4-3 on B.
10 Release the manual switch operated in step 5.
