Procedure 8-9
Adding a 6200 node into a MS-SPRing/BLSR
configuration
Use this procedure to add an 6200 network element in a MS-SPRing/BLSR
network.
Consider an STM-64/OC-192 ring with Nodes X, A, C as 6200 network
elements. See Figure 8-9 on page 8-27. The procedure provides the steps to
add the Node X between Nodes A and C into the MS-SPRing/BLSR
configuration. This procedure is supported only for STM-16/OC-48 or
STM-64/OC-192 line rates.
Prerequisites
Log into the WUI of the immediate neighboring network elements of the
network.
Action
Step Action
1 Gather information you need to perform the reconfiguration.
2 Check the condition of Node X, Node A, and Node C.
3 Collect configuration data for the Initial MS-SPRing/BLSR.
4 Collect passthrough connection data from Node A.
5 Start the Reconfiguration phase, provision Ethernet IP, Router ID and subnet
mask on Node X.
6 Provision the optical pair on Node X.
7 Provision the MS-SPRing/BLSR configuration and Ring Map on Node X.
8 Provision passthrough connections on Node X.
9 Apply a Forced switch to Node A west port and Node C east port.
10 Change the primary state of Node A and Node C facilities to be connected to
Node X to OOS.
11 Connect the optical fibers from Node X to Node A and Node C (into
MS-SPRing/BLSR).
12 Change the primary state of Node A and Node C facilities connected to Node
X to IS.
13 Check the optical links between Node X, Node A and Node C and ensure that
the optical power level is within the specifications of the SFP/XFPs. Refer to
the Planning Guide, S78-1002-110 for the specifications.
14 Set the Section-Trace for the links.
