Procedure 8-10
Deleting an 6200 node from a MS-SPRing/BLSR
configuration
Use this procedure to delete an 6200 network element from a
MS-SPRing/BLSR network.
Consider an STM-64/OC-192 ring with Nodes X, A, C as 6200 network
elements. See Figure 8-10 on page 8-30. The procedure provides the steps
to delete the Node X between Nodes A and C from the MS-SPRing/BLSR
configuration. This procedure is supported only for STM-16/OC-48 or
STM-64/OC-192 line rates.
Prerequisites
Log into the WUI of the immediate neighboring network elements of the
network.
Action
Step Action
1 Gather information you need to perform the reconfiguration.
2 Check the condition of Node X, Node A, and Node C.
3 Collect configuration data for the Initial MS-SPRing/BLSR.
4 Make sure that no ADD/DROP traffic is present on Node X.
5 Start the Reconfiguration phase provision Ethernet IP, Router ID and subnet
mask on Node X.
6 Apply a Forced switch to Node A west port and Node C east port.
7 Change the primary state of Node A and Node C facilities to be disconnected
from Node X to OOS.
8 Connect the optical fibers directly between Node A and Node C (into
MS-SPRing/BLSR).
9 Change the primary state of Node A and Node C facilities connected to each
other IS.
10 Check the optical links between Node A and Node C and ensure that the
optical power level is within the specifications of the SFP/XFPs. Refer to the
Planning Guide, S78-1002-110 for the specifications.
11 Set the Section-Trace for the links.
12 Check Section-Trace at the links.
13 Check for alarms at Node A and Node C.
14 Release Forced switch from Node A or Node C.
