8.2.C Checklist
The following checklist should be completed prior to performing checkout procedures.
External system power (28 VDC, 10 Amps) available
All connectors are securely connected
Antenna(s) connected to proper transceiver RF ports
RT-7000 PMR/RMR Operator’s Guide has been read and understood
8.2.D Checkout Procedure
(1) Electrical Bonding:
1.1 Check antenna bonding on each antenna in the system by measuring the
resistance between the antenna and the antenna ground plane using the milli-
Ohm resistance meter. No more than 5 milli-Ohms should be measured. If this
test fails, check that the mounting surface under the antenna is clear of ALL
paint or similar material.
1.2 A ground location should be available to the PMR through the DZUS mounts.
The DZUS mounts should be clear of paint of residue on the contact area that
the RT7000 is connected to. The DZUS rail should be connected to ground.
1.3 For the PMR, a ground position is available on the DB78 pin connector,
Connector J101, in position 66 that provides the backshell with a ground
connection.
(2) Apply power to the system. If the RT-7000 PMR does not turn on
automatically, press the "Power" button on the front panel.
(3) Verify keyboard backlit dimming functions properly if the installation is set
up with backlight control.
(4) At this point the RT-7000 PMR must have its configuration programmed,
using the Cobham Installation Configuration Tool.
(5) The final programming step is to program the desired preset channels
into the RT-7000 PMR using the Cobham Mission Configuration Tool (P/N 320-
171804-XX) software and P/N 129-271603-XX). Additionally if your system
features Motorola Radios, you will need to use CPS as required per your
installation. See the RT-7000 PMR Operator Guide (150-071770) for instructions
for this software. Start with a limited set that will test the basic operations of the
system such as:
Analog FM Modulation at a frequency in each band: 30-50,
138-174, 225-400,400-512, 806-870.
AM Modulation at a frequency in each band: 118-137, 225-400.
P25 or Trunking Modulation in the band specified by the radio part number.
Encryption if available in the transceiver.
(a) On the RT-7000 PMR , tune transceiver system #1 to the manual channel. Using
the "EDIT" page on the RT-7000 PMR tune the manual channel for 30 MHz Rx and Tx
