5 SYSTEM INSTALLATION
5.1 GENERAL
This section contains component specifications and examples of typical system
configurations for the RT-7000 PMR Panel Mount Radio transceiver and the RCDU.
System power requirements are included in Table 5-1. Figure 5-4 through Figure 5-7
show generalized system interface diagrams.
The RT-7000 PMR Panel Mount Radio (PMR) system consists of:
RT-7000 PMR Panel Mount Radio: An LRU designed to be mounted in a cockpit
panel. The PMR can contain three independent transceivers, as well as
interfacing with up to two handheld radios.
Audio Panel: The PMR is designed to interface with standard aircraft audio
systems. Channel 1 may be configured to interface directly with a headset, it
features standard microphone bias capability for backup applications.
NOTE: RT-7000 Channels 2-5 do not feature microphone bias.
Antennas: The PMR has an independent coax output for each internal
transceiver. The coax outputs may be connected to a variety of antennas and/or
switches.
118 MHz High Pass Filter (HPF): The 118 MHz HPF is designed to add additional
protection from the strong transmitters in the commercial FM frequency band.
This filter protects the Wide Band Transceiver from interference from these
strong transmitters. If the RT-7000 is to be used as a TSO’d VHF ATC COM
radio, the 118 MHz HPF must be installed in the antenna feed between the coax
connector for the Wide Band Transceiver and its antenna.
The RT-7000 RMR Remote Mount Radio (RMR) system consists of:
RT-7000 RMR Remote Mount Radio: An LRU designed to be rack mounted in the
aircraft. The RMR can contain up to three independent transceivers, as well as
interfacing with up to two handheld radios. Two variants of the RMR mounting
racks are available: one rack to accommodate one RMR, and a dual rack
accommodating two RMRs.
Audio Panel: The RMR is designed to interface with standard aircraft audio
systems. Channel 1 may be configured to interface directly with a headset, it
features standard microphone bias capability for backup applications.
NOTE: RT-7000 Channels 2-5 do not feature microphone bias.
