7.2 WIRING CONSIDERATIONS
To simplify the system’s design, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Determine the type and number of radios - The RT-7000 can contain
one to three transceivers. *See section 5.2 for more information on the System
Configuration and port connections.
Step 2: Determine the type of antennas - For each transceiver, determine the
appropriate antenna for the RT-7000. For each transceiver the RT-7000 contains,
you will need an antenna.
The process begins by determining if the user needs optimum 30-88MHz
performance. If so, the recommended antenna system will be a “tunable”
antenna (i.e. one that is electrically tuned for maximum performance). If the
user rarely uses 30-88 MHz, then a passive antenna is suggested. Passive
antennas are less expensive and less complex to install.
Performance in the 30-88 MHz frequency range with a passive antenna may be
degraded versus an active antenna.
