8.5 Replacing Scanner Parts
This section describes how to replace those scanner parts that are liable to wear down over long-term
use. Changing parts will renew your scanner and ensure optimal results. Your scanner monitors usage of
parts and will warn you when it is time for a replacement through a message in the iJET Panel display
window.
Some scanner models are designed so users can replace parts on their own (user-replaceable parts)
while other scanner models will require a service technician. The instructions in this section apply only for
scanners with user-replaceable parts. You can see which parts are user-replaceable on your scanner in
the table below.
Scanner Model Parts that are User-Replaceable
HD4230i
Glass-plate, White-background-platen, Lamp, Dust filters
FLEX50i
White-background-platen, Lamp, Dust filters
Important Safety Instruction: Before replacing any user-replaceable parts, be sure to turn the
scanner power off and disconnect the power plug.
NOTE: Regarding RECALIBRATION - glass plate, White background platen, lamp unit
replacement: Replacing these parts will change conditions in the scan area. Therefore, it is
recommended to recalibrate right after changing and cleaning these parts.
8.5.1 Replacing the Glass-plate
The HD4230i scanner models are designed so users can detach the glass-plate from the scanner in order
to replace a scratched glass-plate with a new ones. Your scanner monitors usage of the glass plate and
will warn you when it is time for a replacement by displaying a message in the iJET Panel display window.
On Scanners: HD4230i
1. Turn the scanner power off and disconnect the power plug.
2. Open the scan area lid - Push down on the two lever buttons found near the insertion slot on each
side of the lid.
